Milano has several airports. If you are traveling via the international airport, it will probably be Milano-Malpensa (about 50 km from the city). Just outside the city is Milan-Linate and at Bergamo (about 40 km) is Il Caravaggio Orio al Serio, better known as Milano-Bergamo Airport. You will probably arrive at the latter airport if you fly with a low-cost airline. From the airports you can take various types of transport to the city, such as the train, bus or taxi. In this article you can read all about the transport between the airports and the center of Milan.
By bus: The cheapest option to travel the 50 kilometers from Milan-Malpensa airport to the city center. There are three bus companies (Malpensa Bus Express, Terravision and Malpensa Shuttle) that will take you to the center of Milan (central station) in less than an hour. Buses usually run every 30 minutes. A single journey costs 10 euros and you can easily book tickets in advance (book your tickets online).
By train (Malpensa Express): Every half hour the Malpensa Express leaves from Malpensa airport towards the stations Milan Cardona or Milan Central. At the last destination you can also easily transfer to a metro at the Garibaldi stop. The journey takes about 50 minutes and a single train journey costs 15 euros and 8 for children aged 4-13 years (more info and tickets Malpensa Express).
By taxi: Since Malpensa airport is 50 kilometers from the city center, a taxi is an expensive option. The flat rate you will pay for a 45-minute ride is around 95 euros one way. Do you want a taxi transfer from Milan-Malpensa airport? Then I recommend to book this in advance via Welcome Pickups, where a driver will meet you at Malpensa airport with a name sign.
By bus: Numerous buses depart from Milan-Linate Airport to destinations in the center and the surrounding area of Milan. You can buy a ticket for a few euros.
